The ethics of Kopi Luwak

Our coffee is 100% natural, organic, fair trade and cruelty free.

Our sustainable plantations are foraged by a free-ranging, wild population of civets. We do not keep or cage any animals, or interfere in any way with their lifestyle or diet. The civets roam the forest and select the ripest, juiciest coffee cherries to eat, supplemented with other natural foods that enhance the flavour of the coffee.

As the wild civets digest the cherries, proteolytic enzymes break down the proteins in the beans that are responsible for the bitter taste found in most coffees. The beans are then harvested and precision roasted to create the incredibly smooth, full-flavoured coffee so loved by connoisseurs.
